MSN01 includes these accessories

MSN01 adapters allow measurements of electromagnetic interference (EMI) on power line with your regular instrument.  MSN01 provides galvanic separation from high mains' voltages but a straight path for high-frequency signals so that you can connect your sensitive instrument to live power lines for analysis and quantification. Plug-in MSN01 can measure both differential ("normal") and common-mode noise.  Among applications for EMI Adapters are:

  • Conducted emission measurements

  • Compliance with SEMI E176 Standard and IPC-A-610 EOS section

  • EMI audits, diagnostics and troubleshooting

MSN01 is a legacy product.  Consider a newer version of this adapter - MSN17 - that has much wider bandwidth and can come with a choice of power cable for your location.  For measurements of EMI not limited to electrical outlet use MSN15 - its performance is similar to MSN17 but it uses test leads instead of power plug.

What is EMI?  A formal definition of Electromagnetic Interference is that it is a malfunction of equipment caused by excessive high-frequency signals, either radiated (via air), or conducted (via wires).  Often it is also called RFI - Radio Frequency Interference.  Most conventionally, EMI is understood as undesirable high-frequency signals, and EMI filters as devices that suppress such signals while preserving the "good" ones.
